When you are ready to meet your special Havanese puppy, I suggest you contact me as soon as you have decided. You might get lucky and find I have the perfect pup for you right now. If not, please ask to be added to my waiting list and receive notifications about available puppies; I may also be able to recommend a reputable breeder who currently has a litter.

While waiting for a puppy may seem like a downside, it has benefits. It gives you time to prepare yourself and your home for your new best friend. If you’re new to Havanese, it’s also an opportunity to learn more about the breed. I highly recommend learning all you can about socialization and positive reinforcement methods for training Havanese.

Your first step is to contact me to discuss puppy availability and when to submit a deposit to be placed on our waiting list or reserve a puppy from a current litter. This deposit is applied towards the purchase price of your puppy. The deposit may be paid through personal check (preferred), Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, cashier’s check, or postal money order. The order in which puppies are chosen follows the order of deposits received. Refunds may be given if the available puppy develops an issue prohibiting placement or if you cannot follow through with the adoption.

In each litter, I look for that one exceptional puppy with the right temperament, structure, and beauty—qualities that carry on the Havana Silk Havanese tradition in the show ring and for posterity. However, I cannot determine which puppy might meet these criteria until they develop around eight weeks of age. Therefore, no puppies can be assigned to new owners before that time.

Then, I assess the temperaments of each puppy and match them with the desires of their new owners. If all other factors are equal (temperaments, size, gender), new owners can choose their puppies based on the order in which they signed the contracts and sent their deposits. It’s important to remember that temperament is the most crucial aspect of any canine companion. While color and beauty are appealing, the puppy’s temperament should always take precedence.

While you may be drawn to a specific puppy based on its color, it’s essential to prioritize matching temperament with your expectations rather than the puppy’s appearance. For example, you might desire a laid-back puppy who enjoys short walks, playing in the yard, and keeping you company at home. Alternatively, you may want a more energetic puppy to join you on hikes or participate in dog sports like Rally or Agility . If you have children at home who tend to be loud and unpredictable, finding a confident, noise-tolerant dog that can adapt to your environment is essential. As the breeder who knows my puppies best, I can guide you in choosing the best puppy for your home.

Once we have discussed your plans, gone over the contract and guarantee, and I’ve received your deposit, I will send you a receipt and a date to pick up your puppy.

For the first two years from the date of purchase, I will refund the total purchase price of a returned puppy for any reason. After two years, should the puppy develop any hereditary defect which significantly affects the puppy’s health or quality of life, you may elect to receive a replacement puppy or keep the puppy and accept a 50% refund. Documentation must be provided to me before making this election. A licensed veterinarian must submit written records covering the inherited defect, accompanied by x-rays or other visual proof. I reserve the right to require a second opinion from a veterinarian of my choice for the defect stated in your request before providing a replacement puppy or a refund.

If a puppy is returned to Havana Silk Havanese, you have the option to receive a replacement puppy of the same gender as soon as one becomes available, or you may choose to receive a full refund of the purchase price for the puppy. Please note that any expenses incurred during the puppy’s lifetime prior to its return to me will not be reimbursed.

Although a veterinary certification is necessary for refunds or replacements, I am always willing to accept back any Havana Silk Havanese if its owners find themselves unable to care for it, regardless of the circumstances. It is my firm belief that no dog from our breeding program should ever face abandonment, end up in a shelter, or be surrendered to Animal Control.
